Why does everything I make look exactly the same? Every craft project that I attempt ends up very neat, very linear, very cute, and very much the same. Case in point: here is an invitation for a baby shower that I recently made.
And here is a cup that I made at Color Me Mine
I am satisfied with the end result, but it still baffles me that every scrapbook page, every invitation, even the cat bowl that I painted ends up the same. I guess that my creativity is not really creativity, just structured cuteness.

That was such a fun date going to Color Me Mine with you guys! I think the "structured cuteness" is just your style. I really like it. :)
It is amazing how we all have a style that is comfortable for us. You are great at structured cuteness. It feels good when it turns out how you hope and think about a project before you even begin. It was great to see your dad this weekend at Grandpa's birthday.

I have a story for you:
One time, my nephew Collin (who was 2 1/2 at the time) went out to dinner with my family to Three Forks. I forget what we were celebrating, but we were. So, my sister-in-law told us, whatever my nephew wanted, we would give him so he wouldn't act up in the nice restaurant. All the sudden, Collin grabs his mini-Magna-Doodle and asks "Draw a train, Aunt B!" I said "Oh Collin, Aunt B can't draw trains" He gets more excited "Draw a train, please!" In compliance, I started to draw a train. I thought it looked awesome. Had some perspective. Smoke coming out of the stack! I handed it back to Collin and he exclaimed "It's a toaster!"
Needless to say, structured creativity is better than no artistic ability at all.
There's nothing wrong with structured cuteness...cuteness is still cute!

Yes, you're right... our bowls do look similar. I'm all for structured cuteness! :)
