Some Things I Have Been Thinking About

1. I'm officially in my 2nd trimester today.  I actually feel like this pregnancy is going much faster than the first, and it must be because I have Kennedy to keep me occupied and distracted all day.  In a few weeks I should be able to feel the baby move, which will be awesome, because then I won't have to wait to go to the doctor and hear a heartbeat to be sure the baby is in there.

2. I am so grateful for the atonement of Jesus Christ.  I don't know how I would get through without it, since I am completely imperfect.

3. How much I love my husband.  He is an incredible man and an amazing example to me.  I know he loves me and he shows it everyday.  He is my best friend and I love him more than I can say.

4. Halloween is coming up and so is the fall weather.  I am so ready for some cool air and to put my little ghost on my front door.  Holiday baking is going to start and I'll get to dress Kennedy up as something cute.  And I think we may actually make it to Boo at the Zoo this year. :)

A BA in Humanities with a Minor in English

Dear New Baby,
I can't wait to be able to feel you move in a few weeks!  Thankfully I'll be able to hear your heartbeat again on Monday, which always makes us mommies feel better.
Your mommy

Dear Weather,
Thank you so much for finally wanting to be fall!  We have to endure 4 more days of 80 degrees, and then it will finally start cooling off, and this time I think for good!  The trees are turning colors on the mountains, and I am so ready to be done with heat.  Plus, I get to buy Kennedy a whole new wardrobe.
Cool weather lover

Dear Self,
Remember that when you roast the chicken tonight, you can't put it directly on the potatoes, because the skin will be gross.  And also, please double check to make sure that you put the chicken in right side up so you don't have an embarrassing incident like last time.
Hostess with the mostess

Dear BYU,
Thank you for FINALLY deciding that I am officially graduated and sending me my diploma.  Yay!  I actually have a degree!
College grad

Dear Kennedy,
I am so happy that your cough has finally decided to go away.  It was so sad to hear you coughing so much for so long.  Thanks for being so patient through it all.

I've Got a Singular Impression Things Are Moving Too Fast

Bonus points to anyone that can tell me where the title is from.  My computer background changes every time I open my computer, and of course many of those background pictures are of Kennedy.  Yesterday, this one came up.
I realized that this picture was taken almost a year ago, and look at the changes in Kennedy!  I can't believe how fast time goes.  A year ago Kennedy was about 6 months old, her hair still stuck up, and she couldn't crawl.  We didn't have any inkling about the Coast Guard, and we weren't ready for another baby.  But look at us now.  Not only has Kennedy changed so much, but our family has.  We've grown together, been through some tough things, been through some great things, and are ready to embark on an adventure and expand our family.  We have been so blessed.  The only thing that hasn't changed much is Lucy, and she's still the great kitty that entertains and loves us.  I just got to thinking about our moments in time and how much we need to treasure them, because they are only memories before you know it.  I'm so happy to be on the journey that I am and am savoring the moments I have now, especially since I know that there will be tons more moments to come.

Yet Another Mess

We made the mistake of letting Kennedy try to eat chili on her own last night.
Silly parents.
She's kind of getting the hang of the fork, although she uses it more like a spoon and the food usually falls off before she gets it to her mouth, but she has to start somewhere.  Unfortunately, I forgot to put a bib on her, and now that nice white shirt is probably stained into oblivion.  I'll see if I can save it.  And after 2 months I have finally updated my cooking blog again!  Go check it out, you won't be sorry.

Waiting and Waiting and Waiting

love blogging
hate that I haven't been updating very often lately - sorry guys, I'll try to get back on the ball

love homemade lemonade
hate that I forget how easy it is to make and don't make it very often

love that I'm almost done with my first trimester
hate that I am already not sleeping very well

love that we get to start an adventure sometime soon
hate that the Coast Guard recruiter keeps messing up and making us wait longer.  Hopefully we'll have some news within the week.

love that I can sit anywhere in my apartment with wireless internet
hate that the wireless seems to have way more problems than we had before

love that church starts earlier now
hate that it seriously interferes with Kennedy's nap time

Lessons Learned

Lesson #1: Kids ham it up for the camera.
Lesson #2: Sometimes babies just need to be naked.
Lesson #3: Bath time is way more fun with dad.
Lesson #4: When buying a time out chair, do not let your child fall in love with the chair before trying to use it for its intended purpose.
Lesson #5: Kids think jail is fun.

Lesson #6: When letting babies play, they don't always have to be the same species.  (This is a baby billy goat, and boy was it cute.)
Lesson #7: Getting pictures of kids on a moving horse is harder than it looks.

25% Done

I am officially 1/4 of the way done with my pregnancy!  I found out 4 weeks ago, and so far the time has flown by.  With a little girl to run around after and exciting plans for the near future, I haven't been able to really take much time thinking about this new baby.  I am, unfortunately, already starting to not fit in my normal clothes, even though I have only gained two pounds.  My tummy is just expanding like crazy!  And yesterday I had my first doctor's appointment.  I was not even thinking about this, but I was able to hear the baby's heartbeat!  It was an unexpected surprise that made this baby much more real.  Hopefully the time will continue to go just as fast though. :)  So the next milestone is the end of the first trimester, which is in just a few weeks, and then we'll be able to find out the sex!
