"Because She Is a Mother"

A friend of mine posted this on facebook, and I'm so glad she did.  I really needed to read this talk about mothers.  Lately I have felt under par as a mother, probably because we've had so many changes lately, including adding a child, and Brett being gone for 3 out of the 6 months of this year.  I have been going it alone with my kids quite a bit since Brett entered the Coast Guard and I'm not used to it.  This talk really helped me a lot today.  It helped me to remember that I have the Lord on my side because this is his ultimate work.  It helped me to remember that I can call on him for guidance and assistance and that I am doing better than I think I am.  Please read this talk by Jeffrey R. Holland, it will inspire you.

Ashley, I will tell you personally that I think you are a lovely mother. I feel that part of motherhood is having those "break-down" moments, where you feel that you suck or aren't as good as you want to be. I mean, of course every mother isn't as good as they want to be. That's a good thing though! It means they are striving, constantly, to become better at mothering. That is what you want. It's the people that are completely content with their station at a mother that stop improving. So, keep up the awesome work. I've seen it firsthand and you are doing marvelously. :)

Ashley, as far as I am concerned, you are an amazing mother. And I can totally relate about feeling under par. It's really hard having to play both roles of parenthood, but I'm confident that you're doing a great job!
